Raising Culturally-Rooted Spiritual Leaders

PROGRAMS 

NATIONAL
ISAAC’s Fifth Symposium (pictured above), “Healing of Memories, Healing of Finances” received enthusiastic responses from the participants.  The caliber of the finance panelists from the business executives and clergy offered integrative insights between spirituality and finances.  The key theme emerged was the spirituality of stewardship. 
 
The Encore Companion Event: The Spirituality of Stewardship - February 1, 2014; 9:30am to 1:00pm at Young Nak Celebration Church at Jefferson site.  The plenary speaker will be Rev Cory Ishida at Evergreen Baptist Church SGV. 
 
NORCAL
Sea Young Adult Seminar (pictured above right or below) - On Nov. 9th in Sacramento, ISAAC and the Mien ChristianYouth Association co-sponsored the "I Am" leadership training event. ISAAC Board members Viji Nakka-Cammauf, Russell Moy, and Russell Yee joined 45 young adult leaders from churches along the entire west coast.
 
EAST COAST
Discipling Asian Americans - In October, Milton, Eastcoast Project Representative, organized and coordinated a Panel Discussion on “Discipleship for Asian Americans.”   Video clips of the panel discussion will be placed on ISAAC East’s webpage at a later date.”
 
ISAAC MIDWEST
ISAAC Midwest interns for this summer were involved in various ministries from June to August including preaching, leading youth programs, teaching Sunday School, going on Short Term Missions, counseling, church administration, etc.  “I feel that these “calling” studies have enabled me to be more confident to what God has led me and to be even more relentless in praying for discernment and guidance." (D. Lau)
 
AAWOL NEWS
Chloe Sun’s devotional book, “Wisdom from God” (Hong Kong: Tien Dao Publishing House, 2013)  is appealing to the wider Chinese Christian community.

Joy Wong, AAWOL Blog Administrator began monthly AAWOL New Moms chapter via online video chat with four moms.

The AAWOL Blog reached 203 blogs in total and more contributors are added. 
THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YEAR 2013

Board & Staff Retreat: The Year 2013 began with ISAAC board and staff retreat on February 15 at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

Dinner Benefit: Paulina Hong, ISAAC’s special project administrator, helped organizing Dinner Benefit at the Church of Our Saviour, SGV.  Special thanks to donors, and Gary Bradley and Ada Nagata Wong who share their spiritual space so generously with ISAAC! 

New Board Member
James Yu joined ISAAC board as of December 1st 2013.  James shares ISAAC’s mission of bridging academy and church, ethnicities, generation, and gender.  He brings energy and expertise for advancing ISAAC’s mission.    

New Birth
James Kang, Communication Administrator, became a new father to a son, Nolan born on October 23. 

ANNOUNCEMENT

ISAAC Communication Intern Position 
The Communication Intern will maintain the website, design a variety of promotional material and develop promotional strategies for special events.  For details, please check isaacweb.org.
 
ISAAC EXPRESS (AN OPEN ONLINE FORUM)
Description: This online forum is a conversation about Asian North American Christianity, with participants who bridge the academy and the local church.
Format: Announced monthly topics with weekly invited lead contributors. Open comments, moderated only for spam / off-topic / abusive posts. Open archives. Monthly summary / synthesis of discussion.
Moderators-Administrators: Young Lee Hertig, Ph.D. and Russell Yee, Ph.D.
MONTH OF DECEMBER 2013
Theme: “The Intersection of Race and Gender” in ANA Churches
