Dear Alums,
We hope you will enjoy this brief portion of today’s All Seminary Chapel—the culminating service of worship in Fuller’s observance of the Advent season. As part of our celebration of Communion, my meditation is a short reflection on the second half of Philippians 2:12-30. I find great convergence between this text in Paul’s letter and the meaning of the Incarnation: Emmanuel. May this be for you a joyful and shocking reminder of the presence of God with you and through you this Christmas season.
You are one of the gifts God wants to present others every day in your home and in the places you work and serve. You can be one who carries the light of Jesus Christ into the lives of people who wonder if there is a god, and if that god could be made known. By God’s powerful presence, humility, and love—poured out in Jesus—I pray this Good News is God’s great gift to you and through you.
Thank you for being part of our alumni family.
Blessings and Merry Christmas indeed!
With Joy in Christ,
Mark Labberton
