Korean American Family Services (KFAM) has received a $35,000 grant from Cedars-Sinai, in Los Angeles, California. Cedars-Sinai’s Community Mental Health Grant will allow KFAM to provide more free and low-cost professional counseling services to low-income Korean American immigrants. This is an extension to a 2-year grant KFAM previously received for mental health in 2012-2013 for $75,000.

“Cedars-Sinai is pleased to support KFAM for another year to provide critical mental health services to Korean immigrants throughout Los Angeles. KFAM is meeting an important need in the Korean American community and we are proud to see how our support improves the lives of so many community members,” stated Jonathan Schreiber, Director of Community Engagement at Cedars-Sinai. “KFAM is so honored to be selected again by Cedars-Sinai for their Community Mental Health Grant,” said Connie Chung Joe, Executive Director at KFAM. “Through Cedars-Sinai’s support, we’ve been able to increase our pro bono counseling for the most vulnerable and low-income clients and start important new programs like our Korean Mental Health Screening Day. We couldn’t be happier or more grateful.”

Cedars-Sinai’s Community Benefit contribution supports a broad spectrum of activities ranging from improving access to care to providing critical services and health education to underserved populations throughout the Los Angeles community and has been a crucial part of its mission for more than a century.
