Join Us for a Psychology Lunch

Dear Daniel,

Ahhh, February. Winter is winding down, and that ever pleasant (or awkward) holiday is quickly approaching. No, we are not throwing a Valentine's Day mixer, but the day before that fateful day, we are hosting a lunch for students interested in the psychology programs here at Fuller in Pasadena, California.

On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, the School of Psychology at Fuller Seminary is hosting its annual event for the integration of psychology and theology called the Integration Symposium. In conjunction with that event, the Office of Admissions invites you to a prospective psychology student visit. This visit will include lunch with current students and the guest speaker of the symposium, Dr. Marie Hoffman. We will then have a brief information session and one hour walking tour of the campus. The admissions event will run from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

To read more about this lunch, the Integration Symposium, and to register online for free, please click here.

Top Five Books at Fuller

This month, we asked our student and alumni bloggers to think of the top five books they have read here at Fuller as a student. This can be a book from a class, or one they have come across in conversation with other students or professors. Either way, it is a list of books that have shaped their education, calling, and ministry while at Fuller.

This free service includes collections of lectures, seminars, and courses within our schools of Theology, Intercultural Studies, and Psychology. They feature professors such as John Goldingay and Tommy Givens, special lectures from our chapel services or the Brehm Center, and even guest lectures from such scholars as N.T. Emphases @ Fuller

Recovery Ministry

The Recovery Ministry emphasis at Fuller is an academic and practical study of spiritual, emotional, and physical healing. Addiction and abuse are issues that are often difficult to discuss in the church. Pastoral ministry is not simply preaching sermons or operating a church, but involves pastoring and ministering to those who are suffering. Whether your heart is for people dealing with addiction, abuse, or trauma, the Recovery Ministry emphasis will empower you to reach out with sensitivity, wisdom, and spiritual maturity.

To find out more about this emphasis and to see the outline of the program, click here. Or you can read our blog post about the program including a conversation with our Recovery Ministry professor, Dr. Dale Ryan.

This emphasis can be done with most of our MA-level programs here at Fuller or as a six course certificate program.

Can you see yourself as a pastor working with those who are suffering from abuse or addiction? Do you want to work in a church but still want to counsel people? This emphasis will help empower you to love people well, right where they need care.

Dr. Richard Mouw, President

The president of Fuller, Dr. Richard Mouw, has written several articles discussing the main aspects of Fuller's core values.

For the next several newsletters, we will be featuring Dr. Mouw's articles.

The first is called "Witnessing, Learning, and Cooperating: Fuller’s Commitment to Dialogue", focusing on Fuller's approach, and commitment, to inter-faith dialogue.

As you begin to read Mouw's Perspectives, is Fuller a place you can see yourself learning and growing in your educational and ministry calling?
