The morning after one of Chicago North Shore’s most powerful summer storms, Willow Creek Community Church North Shore campus hosted its annual Just Serve event with more than 400 volunteers. Volunteer teams served in 15 different locations in and around the North Shore. Teams were created to serve families in need and the elderly in and around the North Shore to paint, rehab, make blankets for orphaned children. In addition, they ran food drives, took a group of under-resourced kids to a Chicago Cubs’ game, managed a children’s program, played water games with kids and parents, and helped restore not-for-profit facilities that provide care to hundreds of people on a daily basis.
 
Willow Creek’s North Shore campus, located in Northfield, Illinois, meets at Christian Heritage Academy on 315 Waukegan Road. Services are held on Sundays at 9 and 11 a.m.
